As government continues to fight unemployment in Uganda, development partners in karamoja sub region are also trying their best to supplement governments efforts in supporting youth with skills that will earn them a decent living.
Last week,four different groups in Abim district hailing from four sub counties of Alerek, Lotukei, Abim and Nyakwai, received 10,500,000ugx each from Whiteker Peace and development Initiative.
The groups went through training on business skills such financial management and Business plan writing before they received their startups fund on 27/04/2022.
Abim Deputy Resident District Commissioner Fardosa Ahamed, assured youth of her full support and Guidance.She called upon youth to embrace programs that are tailored to empower them.
She also encouraged youth to join the money economy through taking advantage of government programs such as emyooga, the presidential youth skilling program, parish development model among others.
Both RDCs of Abim also pledged to closely work with youth in achieving the bigger dream of achieving middle income status by 2030.
They also appreciated whiteker Peace and development initiative for the wonderful project.
