Kabale District on Wednesday laid the budget estimates for the 2022/23 Fiscal year, amounting to 36,472,358,429 shillings.
The budget estimates were presented by the District Chairperson, Nelson Nshangabasheija, to the District council, chaired by the Speaker, Flavia Nyinakiiza Kanagizi, in accordance with section 82(4), of the Local Government Act Cap 243.
According to the budget estimates, the district expects 35,415,112,362shillings from Local Government transfers, representing 96.6percent of the total budget. Other anticipated revenue sources include, 800,000,000shillings (2.2%), as donor funding and 455,247,068(1.2%) as local revenue.
Nshangabasheija informed the council that the 2022/23 draft budget estimates, has been by 5,750,587,570 shillings (15.7) from 42,420,947,000shillings in 2021/22 financial year. He attributed the reduction on non-release of indicative planning figures-IPFs for all Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers Program-UGIFT facilities, both under Education and Health.
Nshangabasheija, added that the 2022/23 financial year budget, is in line with the objectives of the Third Development Plan (NDP III), which runs between 2020/21-2024/25 financial years and the Vision 2040,w which is “A transformed Ugandan society from a peasant to a modern and prosperous country within 30years”.
