Leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kabale district have on Sunday expressed disappointment in President Yoweri Museveni for dropping former Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, without a matching replacement from the district.

Leaders were speaking during the welcoming party of the Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma, at Kirigime guest house, in Kabale Municipality.

The Central division NRM Chairperson Robert Matsiko Runyaasi asked Nyakahuma to make a report to President Museveni explaining how they are not happy about the reshuffling of Dr Rugunda as Prime Minister and appointed him to the newly created position special envoy for special duties in the Office of the President, saying that position was just a demotion.

The Lyakarimira LC3 Chairperson Canon Enock Kazooba said that it’s unfortunate that Kabale district voted the President with 84.5 percent but the reshuffling of Rugunda, without giving such big position to any other person in the region demoralize NRM supporters in the area. He added that they want a special meeting with President Museveni to express their dissatisfaction on how he is ejecting Kigezi leaders from top leadership in the country.

Kazooba added that President Museveni removed Amama Mbabazi and now Ruhakana Rugunda both sons of Kigezi, from influential leadership positions and they need to know why.

However, Nyakahuma though didn’t talk much about the concern, said that he will make a report about NRM leaders’ concern and submit it to the office of the President. He commended them for the kind reception promising to work with everyone in the district.
