Teachers in Kisoro district who fear losing their jobs because of not being vaccinated are buying fake Covid-19 vaccination cards from the health workers.
An investigation being conducted by the office of the Kisoro district health department has revealed that some civil servants, especially teachers are buying forged Covid-19 vaccination cards.
The revelation was made by the Kisoro district assistant health officer in-charge of immunization Annet Dusabe who said a section of civil servants who did not get any Covid-19 vaccine are now trying to buy forged vaccination cards.
Dusabe noted that some health workers who are still being investigated are selling vaccination cards illegally at a fee of 70,000 Ugandan shillings.
During the weekly Covid-19 district task force meeting, Dusabe said that it had come to her attention that a section of civil servants especially teachers had resorted to buying vaccination cards without taking jabs.
The development follows a call by the Minister of Education and Uganda’s First Lady Janet Museveni who said all teachers must get the Covid-19 vaccination or risk losing their jobs.
The Kisoro District deputy RDC, Ndikumwami Dan says that whoever will be arrested will be charged with attempted murder.
Ndikumwami Dan also warned health workers not to go against their ethics of work by selling vaccination cards to people who are not vaccinated.
