People Power has the capacity to run Uganda, the movement’s spokesperson has said.

Joel Senyonyi made the remarks on Wednesday during the unveiling of the team that will coordinate People Power activities ahead of the 2021 General elections.

The ceremony was presided over by Kyadondo East Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Kyagulanyi at his residence in Magere.

“We want to show the country that we are a very organised group. We have capacity to run a country,” he said.

He also added: “When we (People Power) take power, we want to fix the institutions of this country. We want to make sure they are independent, empowered and they can operate and function appropriately.”

Kyagulanyi is also the head of People Power

The team includes some Members of Parliament from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).  They include Susan Amero, John Baptist Nambeshe, and James Acidri among others.

Senyonyi also revealed that several venues have shunned them.

“We were not supposed to be here (Magere) but all venues we approached refused to host us,” Senyonyi told journalists.
