The Kabale district vice Chairperson Bridget Asiinga Tumwesigye has asked widows in Kabale district to shun alcoholism but rather focus on development by starting up small scale businesses that can help them raise their family incomes.

Asiinga gave the advice on Tuesday while speaking to widows at Ryakarimira town council headquarters and at Kyanamira Sub County headquarters. Here members of the 25 registered widows’ groups in Kabale district received 100 goats from the NAADS secretariat as a way of developing them socioeconomically.
She re-echoed the call meeting different widows at Kabanyonyi playground in Buhara Sub County and at Janan Luwum Kamuganguzi playground in Kamuganguzi Sub county Kabale district.

The goats were lobbied by the Kabale district Woman Member of Parliament Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira and each group received four.

goats which the group members shall share upon the goat’s delivery. Now Asiinga who represented Hon Atwakiire during the handle of the goats to the beneficiary widows said that some widows due to depression after losing their loved ones tend to over booze themselves saying this has led to the misuse of the little available family incomes thus leading to poverty.
