Rebel leader Sankara arrested, says Rwanda Investigation Bureau

Nsabimana Callixte a.k.a Sankara has been captured, Rwanda Investigation Bureau has announced.

Maj. Sankara is in custody pending prosecution for serious offenses related to national security.

Watchdog Uganda could not independently verify the announcement of the capture of the man who declared the formation of National Liberation Movement (NLM) in July 2018 and ‘has been wanted over several offenses committed on Rwandan territory’.

We are also yet establish how Maj. Sankara, who a few weeks ago claimed to have seized a part of Nyungwe National Park was arrested.

Some of the offences Kigali accuses him of include the formation of an irregular armed group, complicity in committing terrorist acts, conspiracy and incitement to commit terrorist acts, taking persons hostage, murder and looting, according to local press.

Maj. Sankara’s case file will be submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority in accordance with Rwandan criminal procedure law.
