The government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu has assured Ugandans that government will not tolerate corrupt officials who have infiltrated the district service commissions across the country.

Nankabirwa noted that government is aware of the corrupt officials who ask for money from Ugandans who normally apply for the jobs at the district level.

She made remarks last Thursday while presiding over the belated International Women’s day held at Ntungamo Municipal grounds following the embezzlement issue raised by Kajara County Member of Parliament Michael Timuzigu Kamugisha.

Timuzigu said some government officials mismanaged funds at Itojo Hospital which was meant for its renovation in 2018.

Nankabirwa noted that she will report the matter before the cabinet for a way forward. She also commended the NRM government under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni for being pro people that is determined to fight graft through the establishment of Anti-corruption Unit and other agencies.

The Kiboga Woman MP on the other hand tasked leaders at all levels to cooperate if they are to fight poverty which is the common enemy in the country noting that it is one of the causes of domestic violence in many families.

She challenged women to stop the tendency of over depending on their husbands for everything but work hard and complement little income to their families.

Ntungamo District woman MP Beatrice Rwakimaari applauded government for recognizing the role of women in the development of the country.

Rwakimaari condemned the rampant cases of domestic violence attributing them to parliament’s failure to come up with stringent laws concerning the vice.
