The URA FC Board has appointed Ivan Kakembo as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Kakembo, who has been SC Villa CEO was given a one year renewable contract effective November 1, 2018.
“We warmly welcome Ivan and believe that he has the necessary expertise to lead the dream team,” said URA FC chairman James Kizza at the weekend.
Kakembo promised to rebrand URA both locally and internationally.
“I am so happy to join URA FC as a club and being under URA as an institution is a great honor. I’m so confident because I come here with great expertise in football management both locally and internationally which I believe will give us as a club an edge in Ugandan football today. I expect to lobby for the club’s growth and also deliver a new brand of URA FC and ensure that the success of the club is unmatched,” said Kakembo.
On his part, Mr Kizza James promised support the new CEO, emphasizing the board is convinced that Kakembo is the right man for the job. He also noted that the CEO has been tasked to turn the club into a bigger football brand both locally and internationally.
The club also unveiled the official medical sponsors, St. Catherine Hospital who will provide medical insurance cover for URA FC players, URA FC staff and their dependents.
“We are happy to be part of this great team and we believe that when the team is healthy then the results will be good too,” said Mr. Lawrence Omuntu, the public relations director St. Catherine’s Hospital.
Kakembo replaced Edward Kulubya who has been the URA CEO for three years. Kulubya left for further studies, according to Ian Rumanyika, director of communications URA FC.
