Onduparaka picked up their second win on the trot in the Uganda Premier League, after defeating Sports Club Villa 1-0 at Namboole.
Onduparaka centre back Rashid Toha curled home a beautiful freekick in the first minute after Savio Kabugo fouled Vianney Ssekajugo just outside the 18 yard area.
SC Villa would have themselves to blame after they squandered several chances in either half. The loss meant the record champions have now picked up a point from two games played after the drab draw with Kirinya Jinja SS on match day one.
Onduparaka coach Asaph Mwebaze believes concentration kept them in the game,
“Getting three points against Villa is a huge boost. The boys kept the concentration levels all through and I am happy for them,” Mwebaze said after the match.
Villa’s Ambrose Kiirya believes the team will get better in the next games and hope to convert their chances better.
“I thought we created as many chances in the second half but which we didn’t convert but I am sure we shall do better next time,” he told Watchdog
In the other games played on the day, Nyamityobora threw away a 2-1 lead against Bright Stars, the latter going on to win 3-2 at Wankulukuku.
In Arua, Paidha Black Angels recorded their first home win edging Police 2-1 while newly promoted Ndejje University edged reinstated Mbabara City 1-0 at home.
