Gov’t dissolves UNRA, 24 other agencies

Government has resolved to disband or emerge a number of its agencies.

In a cabinet meeting chaired by President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, it was agreed upon to dissolve 25 agencies as a way of reorganizing government and realignment of functions.

Among the affected agencies include Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) which has been returned to Ministry of Works, NITA- Uganda which will be under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, National Information and Registration Authority (NIRA) to the Ministry of Internal Affairs while the National Forestry Authority goes to the Ministry of Water and Environment among others.

Each agency reverted to a ministry will be headed by a commissioner.

National Agricultural Advisory Services Org
Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control Council
Dairy Development Authority
Uganda Coffee Development Authority
Cotton Development Organisation
National Identification & Reg Authority NGO Bureau
National Information Technology Authority
Uganda Aids Commission
National Drug Authority
Uganda Blood Transfusion Services
Uganda Industrial Research Institute
Uganda National Council for Scie & Tech
Uganda Land Commission

National Forestry Authority
