Youth have been challenged to be agents of social, economical change and desist from being entrapped into risky life styles which may ruin their lives.

Speaking at the closure of a 4 day Uganda Red cross Society Youth Camp Ntungamo Branch  on Monday  held at Ntungamo High School, the chief guest who is also the head teacher Ntungamo High school Byamukama Wilson asked the Red Cross Society youth members to observe right and excellent living in their communities.

Byamukama advised the participants to be wise and make the useful of the skills they acquired to choose what should be done to bring pleasure to them and society rather than pain.

On the same occasion the new Red Cross youth leadership was elected where Nimusiima Lucky Musika retained her seat as chairperson , Namanya Osbert as vice chairperson and Mweteise Bion as secretary.

The post of Treasurer rose contestation between Kamusiime Patience and Nimusiima Joanitah after Kamusiime merged as winner but Nimusiima vowed to petition the Uganda Red Cross Society secretariat saying that the one who was elected had not been a member for at least 6 months as their constitution stipulates.

The Regional coordinator who is also the member of National election task force Uganda Red Cross Baherezibwa Edson appealed to members to maintain unity for sustainability as the core principals of Red Cross.

Baherezibwa advised them to avoid bickering in leadership instead work together for the common goal.

The branch manager Nsabimana Livingstone hailed the parents for sending their children for the training and the Ntungamo High school  for being supportive.

Nsabimana urged all participants to go and practice what they have been equipped in their communities for sustainable income.

The incoming Youth chairperson Nimusiima Lucky thanked the members for re-electing her and assured them of good performance.

Over 130 students from the districts of Mbarara, Busia,Jinja, Kisoro,Rukungiri,Ntungamo among others were trained in shoe polish making, Jelly,Briquettes(used to light charcoal) and leadership skills.

The training was under the theme “Empowering the youth for societal development and self sustenance”
