A section of Members of Parliament led by the Leader of Opposition Betty Aol Ochan have on Friday stormed Makindye Army barracks demanding to see detained Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Unfortunately, the army has declined the MPs’ request but allowed Bobi Wine’s wife Barbie Kyagulanyi and relatives to see him.
He was airlifted to the barracks on Thursday after being charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at General Court Martial in Gulu.
Yesterday, Medard Ssegona, one of Bobi Wine’s lawyers said the legislator was badly tortured and apparently he is in poor health in that he can hardly talk or walk.
The lawyer added that his face is swollen and cannot see because of the torture by SFC soldiers.
However, Brig. Richard Karemire, UPDF spokesperson has assured the public that Bobi Wine will receive the adequate attention and care now that he is under their custody, his family will as well be able to visit him as per the established procedure.
“For whatever condition Hon Kyagulanyi may be in as a result of the whole ARUA fracas, UPDF will ensure he receives adequate attention and care now that he is under its safe custody. His family also will be able to visit him as per established procedure,” Brig Karemire tweeted.
