Ex Arsenal star and Ivory Coast International Emmanuel Eboue this week gave exclusive dance strokes as he said goodbye to Uganda.
#Eboue was at Hidden Agenda Pub in Kabalagala where he thanked Bungabet, a sport betting company for giving him such a great opportunity to explore the Pearl of Africa.
In his speech, Eboue noted that he has seen talented men and women in Uganda and he believes they can go very far if they stay focused.
“I’ve moved around but there is no country like Uganda. It’s really a good environment with welcoming people and God should bless you,” said Eboue.
On the same function, the Chief Executive Director for Bungabet Mr Prosper Tuhaise revealed that he wished if the legendary football star could stay longer.
“I wish you could stay longer,” said Tuhaise.
He added that Eboue is one man who has given hope to many Ugandans that they can manage in spite of the few challenges they go through.
He thanked Eboue for such a great time given to Ugandans.
#Eboue took various photos with Arsenal fans who had never had a dream of being with him physically.
Eboue came to Uganda courtesy of Bungabet to be a pundit for the just concluded World Cup as well as do community activities like donations.
Until a couple of years ago, #Eboue was one of the most recognised football stars in the world, playing with Arsenal’s first team.
The 35 year old Ivorian has had a long career in football which ended miserably after his wife and mother of his children took away everything he ever worked for, before she asked for a divorce.
Wikipedia writes that Eboue started his professional football career at ASEC Mimosas, before he moved to Europe to play for Belgium’s Beveren in 2002. His longest time was spent at Arsenal (2005 to 2011) where he played 214 games – including the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final. He scored 10 goals. He moved for a €3.5 million to Galatasaray, where he played regularly and won five domestic honours in Turkey. After his release in 2015, he was briefly on the books of Sunderland before being given a one-year ban by FIFA for not paying his agent. Eboué made his international debut for the Ivory Coast in 2004, eventually earning 79 caps by 2013. He was part of their squads at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and two World Cups.
