President Yoweri Museveni has starred a process to find a suitable replacement for Bank of Uganda Governor Professor Emmanuel Mutebile.

Mutebile’s reign is due to end in the next two years but due to his health complications, he is likely to retire before the anticipated period.

He was supposed to give in office in January, 2016 following the expiration of his two terms but president Museveni insisted on his stay in office because he had (Museveni) no suitable alternative.

Apparently, the president has already ordered responsible parties to start the vetting process for the next Governor.

As per the custom, Museveni will have to consult Mutebile on the possible candidate he thinks could fit in his shoes.

Mutebile succeeded the late Charles Kikonyogo and he is the longest serving governor in the 50 years history of Central Bank.

Some of Mutebile’s possible replacements include Treasury Secretary Keith Muhakanizi, NSSF Managing Director  Richard Byarugaba, Augustus Nuwagaba, an international consultant on economic transformation and Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu, the former Makerere University Vice Chancellor.
