President Museveni receives credentials of 8 new envoys to Uganda

President Yoweri Museveni has received credentials of 8 newly appointed envoys to Uganda at separate ceremonies that took place yesterday at State House, Entebbe.

The envoys are from Egypt, Sudan, Vietnam, Congo (Brazzaville), Zambia, Finland, Mauritius and Israel.

Mr. Museveni warmly welcomed them to Uganda saying that the country has a lot to share in common with each of their countries in economic terms as well as other sectors of development.

The President told the new Egyptian High Commissioner, H.E. Mohamed Tarek Abdel Ghany Sallam, that the Government of Uganda will coordinate the necessary steps to ensure that the Egyptian business community come and invest in the country by taking advantage of the potential that Uganda has in water resources and electricity. He encouraged Egyptian entrepreneurs to embrace tea and coffee processing activities in Uganda noting that Egypt is known as one of the major consumers of both beverages especially during the winter season.

H.E Mohamed Tarek Abdel Ghany Sallam pledged to further strengthen the cooperation between his country and Uganda.

Sudan – Ambassador to Uganda – Credentials

Receiving the credentials of the new Sudanese Ambassador, H.E. Bukhari Ghanim Mohamed Afandi, President Museveni welcomed him to Uganda. The new envoy on his part thanked President Museveni for the good political relationship between the two countries. He assured the President that he will spare no effort in ensuring the building of a strong economic relationship between Uganda and Sudan.

Mauritius Ambassador to Uganda

President Museveni told the new Vietnamese Ambassador, H.E. Nguyen Kim Doah, that Ugandans have been long time friends of the Vietnamese people especially during the Vietnamese struggle during the 1970s under their umbrella organization called the Uganda – Vietnam War Supporters.

He assured the new Vietnamese envoy that a delegation of Uganda government officials will visit Vietnam in the near future to harmonize and carry out a feasibility research to identify strategic economic developmental areas in Uganda that Vietnamese entrepreneurs can invest in.

Israel – Ambassador to Uganda

Later, President Museveni received the credentials of the new Congolese (Brazzaville) Ambassador, H.E. Guy Nestor Itoua whom he assured of the necessary assistance during his tour of duty in Uganda.

The President told the new Zambia High Commissioner, Mr. Benon Keith Chali, that Uganda and Zambia share strong bonds with a view to ensuring that their peoples get empowered further in sectors that are crucial for achievement in terms of socio-economic development.

Zambia – Ambassador to Uganda

President Museveni called for the strengthening of cooperative collaboration between Uganda and Finland as he received the credentials of the new Finnish envoy, Tarja Fernandez.

President Museveni appreciated the growing economy of Mauritius as he received the credentials of new High Commissioner Mr. Dharmras Busgeeth. The President asked the new envoy to woo entrepreneurs from Mauritius to come and invest in Uganda, especially in the agricultural sector, to grow cotton as Uganda is targeting the production of one million bales of cotton to feed the growing textiles sector for the domestic and export markets.

The President who later received the credentials of the new Israeli Ambassador, Noah Gal Gendler, expressed happiness that Israel is interested in the development of the irrigation system in Uganda to boost and maximize the agricultural potential of Uganda. He also commended Israel for its intention to introduce modern technology capabilities in Uganda as well as working for the strengthening of the bonds between Uganda and Israeli business communities.

The Israeli envoy disclosed that his country is focusing on other projects in Uganda like uplifting the standard of Mulago hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), starting agricultural stations from which many Ugandans can learn from and encouraging the Uganda business community to pay a visit to Israel for on the spot exposures.
