‘You should be priests of patriotism and nationalism’-Museveni tells officer cadets

President Yoweri Museveni has told officer cadets and indeed all officers of the UPDF to be priests of Patriotism and nationalism. He said this while giving a lecture of opportunity to officer cadets at the Uganda Military Academy Kabamba on Tuesday 21nd Nov 2017.

Referring to the tenets of political education and why most African armies have performed badly in their duty of keeping peace and security, the president called upon the officer cadets not to miss out in studying and analyzing the evolution of Man, Society and Contemporary history.

The three elements are well articulated in political education and their comprehension puts officers of UPDF above others.

He described the evolution of man from primates (apes, homo sapiens/sapiens to quadrupeds and eventually bipeds) four hundred years ago as an important step that made human beings different from other primates with the power to adopt.

“It is with such development of man powered with two hands and large brains that enabled man to tame and harness nature” the president added.

While commenting on the evolution of society, the president lectured that human beings made clusters of association unlike other primates that evolved into a stronger society although up to now some communities like the Batwa have not moved far.

He took through the officer cadets the evolution of society from a primitive society, to communalism, and thereafter to hunters and gathers and eventually agriculturalists who can now domesticate and tame their environment.

Although he commended Europe and other communities for moving to industrialization, he was optimistic that with the current strides Uganda has taken as envisaged by the quality of leaders being trained and rate of industrialization, Africa will be fully industrialized.

On contemporary History, Gen. Musevenreminded officer cadets how Africa is the cradle of man where all humans stayed until about 100,000years ago when some groups started migrating to other areas like Asia, the Americas and Europe.

It is at this point that Africans should be proud of that and maintain their identity instead of copying other races by trying to change their skins which is full of melamine an element that insulates them from cancers.

“Africa has a good climate, it is the origin of man and modern religion. However, the good climate has been good also for our enemies like mosquitoes, ticks, warms and colonizers hence affecting Africans survival”. He was quick to add that despite all these vagaries, Africans survived unlike the red Indians who were wiped out the face of the earth.

According to the president, the African people did not build strong political units which made them remain Isolated and weak. This made Europeans to find it easy to colonize them.

He commended that Africans need to regain total practical independence, democracy and guard their Identity instead of self-hatred that is of recent exhibited by some African people behaving like black Americans or Europeans which he attributed to prior domination.

As a way forward, the president concluded that the prima of Social change is Science and in order to ensure Africa’s Identity and insulation from further colonization Africa Integration is paramount and this can only be brought about by high levels of patriotism and nationalism.
