FUFA Names Squad For COSAFA Under-20

The FUFA Youth Development Officer Bashir Mutyaba has released a 31 man squad to start preparations for the COSAFA U-20 tournament to be hosted by Zambia from 6th-16th December, 2017. The National U-20 team is called the Uganda Hippos.

Uganda will take part as guest team following an invitation from the Organisers.

The team will start training on 27th November at Namboole stadium while Uganda’s opening fixture is on 6th December against Zambia.

‘The Squad was selected based on continuity from the first edition of the FUFA Juniors League, players who featured in the AFCON U-17 Qualifiers in 2014 and the Uganda Premier League who fall in the U-20 category’ said Mutyaba.

The technical team has Matia Lule (Head coach), James Odoch (Assistant coach) and Sam Kawalya (goalkeeping coach).

The 31 man Squad

Goalkeepers: Ken Said (Proline FC), Kibowa Eric (St Mary’s Kitende), Mwirusi Ali (Kibuli SS)

Defenders: Okot Fred (URA FC), Okiling Andrew (USA), Komakech Alex (Nyamityobora FC), Mujuzi Mustafa (Proline FC), Kizza Mustafa (KCCA FC), Asiku Bashir (St Mary’s Kitende), Wasswa Gofrey (Vipers SC), Kamugisha Clinton(Mbarara City FC)

Midfielders: Kasule Abubaker Muhammad (Express FC), Kasozi Nicholas (Sc Villa Jogoo), Poloto Julius (KCCA FC), Luboyera Azake (Ottawa Furry-Canada), Tumwesigye Frank (Vipers Sc), Okello Allan (KCA FC), Kagium Shafik Kuchi (URA FC), Pius Obuya ( Maroons FC), Gadafi Wahab (Onduparaka FC), Sharif Mohamed (Express FC)

Strikers: Kagaba Nicholas (URA FC), Shaban Mohamed (KCCA FC), Mukwala Steven Dese (Vipers SC), Pius Wangi (Vipers SC), Atamba Nathaniel ( (Mbarara City FC Junior Team), Tibita Hamis (BUL FC), Onyai Raymond ( Kataka FC), Kyeyune Umar (JMC Hippos FC), Tenywa Henry (The School-Iganga) and Ssebutinde Charles (Nyamityobora FC).
