MPs opposed to the contentious age limit bill have opted to return the age limit consultation money citing it was misallocated and is supposed to be serving other purposes.
On Monday, each MP’s bank account was wired with shs29 million to be used to consult their constituents on whether or not to amend Article 102 (b) to remove the age limit provision from the constitution.
Parliament Director of Communications Chris Obore revealed that the money is intended to help MPs hire public address systems and meeting of venues, among other items.
Speaking to Press at the Leader of Opposition’s office on Wednesday morning, Opposition whip Semujju Nganda said they were returning the money to the Parliament officer in charge of the Consolidated Account.
However, NRM MPs are saying the shs29 million is not enough to facilitate them throughout the whole process.
