Besigye, 5 others released on bail

Former Presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has on Wednesday morning charged with five other FDC officials  at Rukungiri Chief Magistrates Court with Inciting Violence following last Wednesday prohibited age limit rally in Rukungiri.

Besigye, FDC’s Secretary for Mobilization Ingrid Turinawe, party Presidential Candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Rukungiri Councillor Innocent Tashobya, Moses Byamukama and Fred Asiime have been charged with four counts of incitement of violence, one count of disobedience of statutory duty and one count of malicious damage of police vehicles.

Besigye and other FDC officials , who through the last four days were detained at Nagalama Police Station, were on Tuesday moved to Rukungiri to appear before a court within the jurisdiction of the crimes.

The suspects denied all charges and applied to be released on bail,  which Chief Magistrate Julius Barore granted on  non cash.

The suspects were ordered to return to court on Nomver 16th for mention of their case.
