The stage is set, the individual players are mentally and physical ready, the different clubs have prepared to the brim as the fourth season of the FUFA Women Elite league officially kicks off on Saturday.
It is evident and recognizable that the growth and development of women football in Uganda has tremendously ascended since the introduction of the Elite League in 2015 under the administration of FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
From the increased number of  passionate players taking part to media attention, women’s football continues to take great strides and precedence.
Now that the league returns on Saturday after a 3 month’s break, the anticipation from teams, fans, media and other associated stakeholders is high.
Muteesa I Royal University entertains Ajax Queens at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium at 4 p.m.
Either club entered the players’ transfer market, signed new players in a bid to bolster their squads.
Muteesa signed lanky forward Favor Nambatya from defending champions Kawempe Muslim and Carol Anyango from She MAK.
On the other hand, Ajax Queens unveiled eight new signings last week including midfielder Phiona Nabumba from Rines Women Football Club.
Ajax Queens new coach Michael Natima will be facing his former employers Muteesa for the first time since leaving at the end of the 2015/16 season.
Action will continue on Sunday with four games on card across the country.
In Soroti, Olila Women Football Club who had a great campaign last season reaching the playoff stage will host rivals Eastern Heroes in the Soroti derby.
Olila won the inaugural Fufa Women’s Cup and have kept the core of their team with players like Fazilah Ikwaput, Ritah Nabossa and goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi staying at the club.
UCU Lady Cardinals who are expected to make a shift in the balance of power will be away to Uganda Martyrs High School, Rubaga on Sunday.
The Mukono based side signed reigning Fufa Female player of the year, Hasifa Nassuna, Yudaya Nakayenze and goalkeeper Aturo Ruth all coming from Kawempe Muslim.
On the other hand, Uganda Martyrs despite losing goalkeeper Pamela Kayondo to Ajax Queens also signed crafty midfielder Harriet Nakuba and still have talented winger in Lilian Mutuuzo and Anita Namata.
In the other games, She Corporate will host Gafford Ladies at the Uganda Institute of  Communication, Information and Technology (UICT) in Nakawa while newly promoted Isra Academy will be at home in Kawempe to She Makerere.
Since 2015, the league has been won by Kawempe Muslim Secondary School
