Police bans court orders in bailiffs’ hands for two weeks

Uganda Police has suspended clearing of court orders until 17 July 5, 2017 to pave way for reviewing on how these orders are cleared by the police.

During suspension period,  a new guideline regarding clearance of warrants and orders will be issued for future operations.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Police Force Land Protection Unit under the guidance of the office of the Inspector General of Police shall organize meetings with other stake holders for purposes of sensitization to ensure future harmony in regards to the way land matters are handled.

“Therefore no individual or Agency should take it upon themselves to engage in acts leading to eviction or possession of land or property until new guidelines are communicated,” said SSP Mutungi Charles, Commandant Land Protection Unit.
