Makerere University has refused to renew the working contract of its Human Resource Director Mary Tizikara.
In a letter dated 30 June, 2017, the University appointments committee Chairperson Bruce Baraba Kabaasa declined to grant Tizikara’s request of renewing her contract.
According to the committee, the University was not satisfied with Tizikara’s performance and on the other hand she is still under probe over some undisclosed issues thus the board felt it was wise not to renew her contract.
Even before the committee refused to renew her contract, the outgoing Vice Chancellor Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu had already instructed Tizikara to prepare to handover office.
“The purpose of this correspondence is twofold. First, to appreciate your service as director human Resources…and second to request you to arrange to hand over office on Friday 30 June 2017 to Mrs. Dora Senoga Zake who will act as director, human resources,” wrote Prof. Ddumba.
Tizikara has in the past served as the secretary of the university’s appointment’s board.
