Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police CP. Mwesigwa Frank met the top commanders in Kampala Metropolitan Area as he launched a new administrative mechanism to improve on security tactics by officers while handling case files.
Mwesigwa Frank directed that for proper information flow,DPCs,OC Stations must intertwine with the OC CIDs and the Crime Intelligence officers for proper information flow.
He stressed that this kind of working mechanism encourages teamwork, better consultation and inspires the surbodinates. In the same meeting a number of resolutions were agreed upon which include:
Embarking on screening the professional misconduct of some officers in Kampala Metropolitan Police, assessment and reshuffling of some of the lands officers with new and more efficient officers or sending them for courses in land matters because its on record that some lands officers have personal interests in these land cases.
CP. Mwesigwa Frank advised the CID officers to tactfully give police bond to avoid recycling criminals back to the community. DPC’s were asked to have a direct contact with court magistrates. This will help a lot in putting away criminals before a few of the greedy I/Os (Investigating Officers) who have personal interests frustrate the chance of potential cases gaining convictions in courts of law.
He is quoted to have said, “It’s not all about having a large number of officers in the police force. Its about the quality of service they give to the nation.”
