On Thursday, Little Hands Go Green, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) kicked off the World Environment Day Celebration activities.
The celebration caravan was flagged off by the state Minister for Environment Mary Gorretti Kitutu Kimono along with Little Hands Go Green’s Joseph Masembe, Dr. Tom Okurut (NEMA) and Ibanda Woman MP Jovrine Kaliisa Kyomukama at NEMA offices in Kampala.
The team that set off will be planting trees along the route to Ibanda as part of the drive to bring to life this year’s World Environment Day theme of “CONNECT WITH NATURE”.
The brilliant team has so far planted trees in some parts of Mpigi, Buwama as well as Nkozi.
There will be a series of activities ahead of the highly anticipated World Environment Day 2017 where President Yoweri Museveni will be the chief guest, tree planting activities in Mbarara, Masaka and Ibanda and an Environmental Run in Ibanda on Sunday among others????.
Some of the schools which have so far joined the noble cause include Mpigi UMEA primary school, St Kizito Mpigi primary school.
The highly anticipated day will be celebrated on 5 june,2017 in Ibanda District.
