A few days back, Minister in charge of Kampala Beti Kamya stated that Erias Lukwago’s vital roles as a City Lord Mayor are to call for council meetings as well as welcoming local and foreign dignitaries to Kampala City.
On Saturday, Lukwago decided to honour the minister’s order and he wholeheartedly welcomed the International athletes who are going to take part in the IAAF World Cross Country Championship which is going to take place on Sunday at Kololo Independence grounds.
During the welcoming function,Lukwago gave a keynote address , thanked the organizers and officially launched the 2017 IAAF championship.
557 male and female athletes from 60 countries are in Uganda for the event which is being hosted for the first time in the East African country and the fifth time in Africa since 1973.
