Joash Mayanja Nkangi, the former Buganda Katikkiro died yesterday on Monday.His death was confirmed on Monday morning by his daughter Josephine Mayanja Nkangi.
Nkangi had recently been admitted to Nakasero hospital in Kampala, undergoing treatment for pneumonia while pending transfer to India for further treatment.
Though he died, Nkangi has left a legacy behind worth remembering.
He became the youngest Katikkiro of Buganda at 34 years of age and longest serving ever (1964-1993) Katikkiro.
He’s also one of the longest serving ministers in various ministries like Commerce and Industry, Education, Finance, Justice and Constitutional Affairs among others and he has been minister for 11 times.
He was the longest serving leader of the Conservative Party (CP).
