Rev. Dr. James Bukomeko is the new Mityana Diocese Bishop.
He becomes the fifth Bishop of the Diocese following an election by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting at Namirembe Guest House on November 7, 2019.
Rev Bukomeko, who will be enthroned on February 2, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, will succeed the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu who was elected the 9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda and will automatically become the Bishop of Kampala Diocese.
Rev. Bukomeko was born on November 01, 1968 in Luweero district and is the youngest of 12 children. He earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Uganda Christian University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute, a Bachelor of Education and a Diploma in Education from Nkumba University.
He also has an Executive Certificate from Hertfordshire University, United Kingdom. He was given an honorary doctorate from the London Bridge Business School.
When Rev. Bukomeko was 21-years-old, a bishop visited his home and challenged him about his faith. It was during that visit that he fully committed his life to Jesus Christ and has never regretted the decision.
Rev. Bukomeko was ordained a deacon and a priest in 1994.
He has served in various capacities in Namirembe Diocese, including parish priest and Assistant Vicar.
Rev. Bukomeko married Rose Bukomeko in 1996. The couple has five children, including twin girls.
