Uganda Cranes preparations for the final Afcon qualifying game against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania have been boosted by the arrival of more foreign based players at the training camp in Ismailia, Egypt.

Ten local-based players left on Sunday for Egypt and were joined by some of the foreign based players at the Tolip Hotel and Spa, where light training sessions have been held.

Murushid Juuko, Emmanuel Okwi and Nicolas Wakiro Wadada hooked up with the squad in Addis Ababa while Captain Dennis Onyango, Salim Jamal, Khalid Aucho, TP Mazembe’s Joseph Ochaya and fitness trainer D’Antonio were all present.

However, the rest of the summoned players are expected to join later. Farook Miya, Moses Opondo, Robert Odongkara and Milton Kariisa are all expected to jet in on Tuesday and take part in the double training session.

According to KCCA midfielder Allan Okello, the training was abit relaxed as they focused more on refreshing the body after the flight on Sunday but he thinks it will get even more intense as more players come in.

“Yesterday’s session was abit light because the coaches focused more on conditioning our bodies after the long flight. But generally the mood in camp is relaxed and everyone is happy we are going on well,” Okello, who could make his senior international debut, said.

The squad will then be involved with a match against a local club on Wednesday evening as coach Sebastian Desabre and his technical team continues assessing the players.

On Thursday, they are expected to take part in another training session before they embark onto another flight to Tanzania’s capital Dar es Salaam on Friday.

Tanzania will host Uganda at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Sunday, March 24, 2019 in a must-win situation for the hosts if they are to qualify for the 2019 Afcon finals. Uganda Cranes already qualified for the final tournament.
