It was all about jubilation on Thursday as Kampala Parents School (KPS) pupils celebrated passing the 2018 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) with flying colours.
All the 234 pupils who sat for the final exams last year overwhelmingly passed.
KPS is owned by city property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia.
The school Principal Daphine Kato thanked the directors for catering for the children and providing necessities that have always kept the school on top.
“That is what we have really achieved. God is good and He has always been on our side.”
Adding, “Children who are going to secondary school, congratulations. Continue working hard, put our school on the map and be role models.”
Atukunda Elizabeth, one of the pupils who scored four aggregate could not hide her excitement.
She said, “I’m sure we wouldn’t have made it without our good teachers. I want to join Gayaza girls or St Mary’s Namagunga for my ‘O’ level.”
According to Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB), private primary schools outperformed government schools in 2018 PLE exams.
A total of 41604 (13.1 per cent) males passed in division one compared to 35529 (10.5 per cent) females.
Countrywide, 671,923 candidates were registered to sit PLE at 13,072 centres across the country compared to 646,041 from 12, 751 centres in 2017.This is an increase of 25,882 (3.9) candidates. At least 71 per cent (476,131) of the candidates, who sat for the examinations, are from government-aided schools, while 29 per cent (195,792) are from private ones.
