Uganda Revenue Authority has moved all its city branch offices to New URA Tower, Nakawa.
In the document signed on Thursday by Commissioner General Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Doris Akol, over six city offices have been moved to new building located on plot M193/ M194 Nakawa Industrial Area.
Among offices relocated are; URA offices at Crested Towers, plot 17 Hannington Road, Tax Investigations offices at House of hope, plot 10 Windsor Loop Kololo, Kampala North offices on plot 951/952 at Makerere Kubiri round about Bombo road.
Others are Kampala South office, in Old Kampala plot 17-21, next to Gaddafi Mosque, All URA ffices at Nakawa Business Park, New Port Bell Road, URA Training School on plot 25-27 Lugogo Bypass.
Ian Rumanyika, Communication and Marketing Director URA told Watchdog Uganda on Thursday that, the move of all these six crucial offices was to create a one stop center which will help to improve service delivery.

“We moved all these offices to URA Tower to reduce administration costs, and this will help also to cut costs on rent since we have been spending over Shs4bn in a year,” said Rumanyika.
However, some tax payers who have been paying taxes through these offices were not happy with URA’s decision to move all crucial offices from the city center to Nakawa.
Muhammad Kavuma a business man in Kampala, Kikuubo said URA Offices in city center were near and tax payments were done easily but taking them to Nakawa congestion is going to be too much.
However, Herbert Kayongo also from Kikuubo who deals in Electronics said URA’s move will reduce theft in the system because monitoring will be easy since the command center is one.
Rumanyika however, confirmed that services will remain as quick as they were or even more efficiency.
