Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers SC and Cup winners KCCA FC have been handed tricky ties in the pre-group stages of the CAF confederations Cup.

In a live televised draw held at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo Egypt on Friday evening, Vipers were seeded in pot C while KCCA were seeded in a higher pot B.

Vipers, who were knocked out of the more lucrative CAF Champions League by Algerian champions CS Constantine will face another Algerian giant CS Sfaxien if they are to make the group stages of the continental tournament.

The Venoms have never played in the group stages of any CAF tournament in their history but their opponents in the play offs have won the Confederations Cup four times before and even made it to the finals of the Champions league.

The Venoms will host the first leg between January 11 and 13 before flying away the next week.

On the other hand, Uganda Cup winners and the other Ugandan representatives KCCA FC have been drawn against Congo Brazaville side AS Toho.

The Ugandan outfit qualified to the play off round after defeating Tanzanian giants Mtibwa Sugar while their opponents fell to Zimbabwe’s Platinum Stars in the Champions league courtesy of the away goals rule after playing to a 4-4 aggregate score.

KCCA reached the groups stages of the confederations cup for the first time in 2017 and aldo played in the group stages of the champions league last season while their opponents are now playing in the continental competition for just the second time in history.

KCCA will play the first match away in Brazzaville on January 11, 12 or 13, 2019 before they host the return match a week later.
