The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has advised former employees with queries regarding their benefits to follow the standard stipulated procedures related to pension schemes.
This after an alleged false social media message made rounds purportedly calling on employees who worked between 1962 and 2018 to check if they are on a list of former employees who are supposed to receive benefits.
The benefits, according to the ministry are worth Shs5,000,000 per person.
“The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development disassociates itself from this scam. Avoid falling prey to phony schemes such as this ongoing internet scam,” a statement from the ministry stipulates.
“The perpetrators of the message are advising unsuspecting former employees to log onto a website, https://mobiltechnics.com/ug-go, to check if their names appear on a sham list of employees who allegedly qualify to claim the money from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.”
The statement released on Wednesday says no such scheme exists in its social protection agenda arrangement, and wholesomely disassociate ourselves from the message circulating.
“We are treating the message as a scheme of internet fraud. Members of the public are therefore advised to disregard the schemers and caution against logging into this portal as the creator’s motives are unknown.”
