Is this how I am paid after voting for Museveni all my life? – 63-year-old asks

It is now almost seven weeks since houses were destroyed and lives left ruined during an early morning eviction exercise in Lusanja, Gayaza in Wakiso District on October 12.

Then, court bailiffs accompanied by armed policemen left 358 people homeless after razing their houses on the orders of a one Medard Kiconco.

According to affected residents, they cannot take it anymore.

For example 63-year-old Maimuna, is still wondering why the government is taking long to settle their land eviction plight even after the President asked for an inquiry into the matter.

‘’We are always hit by rain (in these makeshift shelters), for how long shall we sleep outside?’’ she asked.

Maimuna also claims to have voted for the President for all her life, but from the look of things, she is standing between a rock and a hard place.

“This country is for all of us. Not for just a few children who are ‘better than others’,’’ she added.

However, their outcry hasn’t fallen on deaf ears. Recently the Parliament of Uganda instructed government to come up with solutions to resolve the conflicts on the 9.6 acre piece of land.
