The Anti-Corruption Court today, October 11, at Kalolo has adjourned the hearing of the case against former State Minister for Labour and Member of Parliament, Rukiga County, Herbert Kabefunzaki to November 6.

According to  court clerk Peace Kauda,  Justice Margret Tibulya has not been around to carry on with proceedings.  Upon arriving at court at around 9am, Kabafunzaki  was informed by a female officer officer that case was adjourned. This left him angry. Ten minutes later,  he was ushered into a secret meeting with Kauda. He later emerged from the meet and signed in the registry’s book to confirm the adjournment of the case.

Reliable sources at the court however, claim that since today was earmarked for ruling,  court may not be willing to pass the judgement.

Kabafunzaki is accused of receiving a Shs5m bribe from Mr Muhamad Hamid in exchange for clearing his name of sexual harassment allegations.

On April 8, 2017 at Kampala Serena Hotel, while in performance of his duties as the minister, Mr Kabafunzaki allegedly received this money as per the prosecution.

The State also alleges that between April 6 and April 8, the minister conspired with Bruce Lubowa who was by then  chairman Aya group and his cousin to solicit a gratification of Shs15 million from Mr Hamid for purposes of clearing his name.
