President Yoweri Museveni has on Easter Monday picked his telephone and called the archbishop of Kampala Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga in a bid to resolve rising uneasiness between Rubaga and Nakasero.

Dr Lwanga used his Easter message to send a tough warning to the Ugandan leader saying the president was receiving wrong information about religious leaders given to him by money hungry people. The archbishop also said the government had recruited his priests to act as spies.

The archbishop advised that the president should engage with leaders he receives information about in order to establish the truth of the matter.

Don Wanyama, the spokesman of state house on Monday evening posted on his Facebook page that the two leaders had spoken via telephone. He also said they will talk further in subsequent days.

“PRESS RELEASE

APRIL 2nd 2018

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI, ARCHBISHOP LWANGA TALK

President Yoweri Museveni and the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, have today spoken over the phone and agreed on a way forward.

The discussion followed the archbishop’s remarks on Good Friday to a congregation at Old Kampala Playgrounds and at Rubaga Cathedral that an anonymous caller had said he was masterminding a plot to overthrow the government.

The matters will be discussed and resolved in due course.”
