Uganda ‘s prime minister Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda has unveiled the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF), a solidarity workshop on refugees at the imperial royal hotel in Kampala today as they prepare for  refugee conference that will be held in Uganda in order to fundraise money for refugees in Uganda.

While at the workshop, Rugunda said that the workshop is going help them prepare for Uganda solidarity summit which is stated next week from 22 to 23 June 2017  very well as well as preparing themselves too.

He said that Uganda’s refugee management response is so inclusive and leaves no one behind as Uganda chose to pursue the integrated refugee management model which is considered the best in the world and the comprehensive refugee framework should be confused also as a magical solution to refugee problems.

“Uganda’s CRRF method is hailed over the world because it focuses on integration and the CRRF secretariat will be enhanced by the government and it will be an engagement platform,” Rugunda said.

Rugunda added that the world needs to treat refugees with respect and dignity because no one chooses to be a refugee, that they look forward to a strong presence, and high level support towards the summit, they have already asked international community to attend in order to budget for the 1 million refugees in Uganda.

Additionally, the ambassador of Denmark to Uganda David Apollo Kazungu said that what they recognized (CRRF) today has been practiced in Uganda since 1950’s  and refugees are not just a statistic which should be looked at with a pity but humans who are victims of war or natural disasters.

Kazungu said that while the government comes up with a national resettlement agenda, for them as people they should first address the main challenges of lack of land for refugees and resettlement since some of the host communities also have little lands.

“We can’t continue giving assistance to refugees various years after their arrival but we should involve Non Government Organizations (NGOs) with a better understanding on  refuge situations,” Kazungu added.
