Residential house in Uganda

Residential house in Uganda

By Dr. Joel Aita

Yesterday should have been the best day I have had this year.

In 2007 when I had just started Joadah Consult a young man, who is now Dr. Anthony Awira (PhD) approached me after been referred to by a friend.

Anthony was working with a Bank in Town and had two years experience fresh from the University. Not earning a lot of money by then. Anthony had a dream. He had acquired Land and wanted his dream home.

We sat down and I gave him advice, I told him with the limited money he had we could start with the Boys-quarter. But then we place it at the corner of the land so that when he gets more money he can then put up the main building. This resonated very well with him. Immediately we hit the ground.

The House in Frame 1 was what we came up with. A Two bedroomed descent house for a young man.

Eventually, Anthony got a better Job in South Sudan and somehow we completely Lost touch. Time came when he raised more money and wanted to continue with his dream, he looked for me and could not trace me.

Meanwhile after some years I started looking for the house I had done. This was actually my first Design and Build Contract after we set up Joadah Consult. I completely failed to trace this project. For the past 5 years I have been looking for this project. I like visiting projects we have done in the past.

Yesterday, I got the shock of my life. Anthony Calls me. He says I need you to come and see what you started. Ooooh my oooh my.   Dr. Anthony Awira, continued with his dream and actually finally completed the house.

The Shock I got was, the Dark Grey part of the house in Frame 2 just in front of the two cars is actually the redesign of the 2007 house you see in Frame 1. So he attached it to the main building and it has come out very nicely.   I have loved the whole process from 2007 to the completed House he now has which has come out as per his original 2007 dream.

START, GO SLOW, DONT STOP!!

Dr Joel Aita
