All Green Energy has donated two energy-efficient Panda cookers, valued at Shs10 million, to Fenna Tujjune, a local community initiative. This generous contribution is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to advocate for climate change mitigation and promote environmental conservation through sustainable energy solutions.
Romona Shantal Sarah Orunda, the President of Persons with Disability at Women Entrepreneurship Forum Africa (WEFA) and founder of Fenna Tujjune expressed her gratitude for the donations, emphasizing that they would provide significant relief given their previous high spending on firewood.
“We are thrilled to receive these Panda cookers from All Green Energy Uganda and International. The visit from the CEO to our home in Seeta was deeply meaningful. The Panda cookers are going to be incredibly beneficial, as we have been spending over Shs700,000 to 600,000 on firewood and charcoal. From what we’ve learned and the demonstrations we’ve seen, we are confident that these cookers will be a game changer. They use much less firewood, which means we will save money while still providing meals at a reduced cost,” she said.

She also highlighted the broader environmental benefits, urging everyone to adopt such technologies. “As Fenna Tujjune, an Indigenous rights-based non-profit organization focusing on children with disabilities, we are very grateful. We hope that this new technology of Panda cookers will gain wider acceptance in Uganda. It aids in environmental conservation by significantly reducing tree cutting, helping us maintain a greener, more beautiful environment. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Marinus, CEO of All Green Energy, and Ms. Sophie Kalanzi, Country Director of All Green Energy Uganda, for their generous donation of cookers worth millions to our organization.”

Ms Sophie Kalanzi the country director of  All Green Energy Uganda alluded that as the globe grapples with the pressing issue of climate change, one pressing concern is the significant alteration of our environment. The ozone layer, once a protective shield against harmful solar radiation, has been compromised, and changing seasons reflect the broader impact of our environmental missteps. “The reduction in forest cover due to deforestation has contributed to increased carbon dioxide levels, exacerbating the climate crisis.”

Ms. Kalanzi addressed these critical issues and highlighted a promising technological innovation designed to mitigate some of these environmental challenges. “The climate has changed, and so have the seasons,” Ms Kalanzi remarked. “This is largely due to the extensive deforestation we have witnessed, which has stripped us of our natural means to maintain clean air and a healthy environment.”

The development of the Panda Cook technology represents a significant step towards addressing these issues. “We are producing this technology to combat the excessive carbon dioxide emissions from industries and the loss of trees,” Sophie explained. “By introducing the Panda Cook, we aim to drastically reduce our reliance on firewood, which traditionally contributes to deforestation.”

Rhoda Pamela one of the engineers from All Green Energy noted that the Panda Cook technology offers a sustainable alternative to traditional cooking methods that require extensive use of wood. “Let us use a minimum of the trees that are being cut,” Sophie urged. “If we were previously cutting a million trees per year for firewood, this technology can reduce that number by up to 90%. Instead of consuming a million trees, we would be using only 100,000.”

By adopting the Panda Cook technology, there is potential for a profound reduction in environmental impact. “Our goal is to minimize the strain on our forests while simultaneously addressing carbon emissions,” Pamale stated. “This innovation is a crucial step towards ensuring that we use our natural resources more sustainably.”

The Panda Cook technology not only represents a leap forward in reducing deforestation but also reflects a broader commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. As we face the challenges of climate change, innovations like these offer hope for a more balanced and resilient approach to preserving our planet for future generations.

The Panda Cooker is designed for institutions and farms,” explained a representative. “We offer various sizes, from 30 to 500 litres, with a 10-year warranty. These cookers use pure stainless steel and advanced insulation to minimize heat loss through radiation, convection, and conduction.”

The company emphasizes the importance of reducing reliance on traditional fuels. “Our advocacy focuses on minimizing charcoal and firewood use,” they noted. “Instead, we promote alternatives like briquettes made from biowaste, such as rice husks and maize cobs, which helps cut down deforestation.”

Additionally, the Hot Box is used to partially cook food before transferring it to the box, further conserving energy. Training is provided to reduce indoor air pollution and improve fuel efficiency. “We teach people how to properly dry firewood to reduce moisture content, which can otherwise lead to greater charcoal use and increased emissions,” she added.

Meanwhile, as the world continues to seek solutions to the climate crisis, the Panda Cook technology stands as a promising example of how Uganda can align technological progress with environmental preservation.
