ISO Boss Col. Katabazi Tasks Youths to Embrace Mindset Change, Discipline for Effective Social Transformation

The Deputy Director General of the Internal Security Organization, ISO Colonel Emmy Katabazi, has tasked young people to embrace mindset change and discipline in order to achieve social transformation in the country.

Col. Katabazi was on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, addressing the student leaders during the annual district students council siting for Buvuma district at Nairambi Seed School and was organized by the Uganda National Students Association, UNSA.

The student leaders’ council sitting was attended by all three secondary schools, including Buvuma College, Nairambi, and Bwema Seed School, respectively, in Buvuma district.

In his message, Col. Katabazi advised student leaders to promote strict discipline as a guiding tool in mobilizing fellow youths into embracing social transformation within society.

“We cannot transform this country without discipline and the involvement of young people in social transformation. It’s the duty of the student leaders to understand the societal problems and innovate to offer transformative solutions through education,” Col. Katabazi said.

Katabazi further tasked student leaders across the country to use their powers to guide fellow learners against engaging in violent strikes, saying it is destructive to school property and can ruin their futures.

He underscored the urgent need for students to advise their parents to wisely spend the parish development model cash that they receive by investing in money-making ventures.

According to Col. Katabazi, once PDM money is correctly invested by the beneficiaries, the high poverty rate shall steadily reduce.

Regarding bad fishing practices on Lake Victoria, Col. Katabazi cautioned the fishing community to always use the right fishing gear to avoid being in conflict with the enforcers.

Moses Kizito Buule the Assistant Resident District Commissioner for Buvuma, asked student leaders to be the societal change agents.

He thanked Col. Katabazi for prioritizing efforts to sensitize and guide student leaders under UNSA.

Kizito Isaac, the Kampala Capital city coordinator for the Uganda National Students Association, applauded Col. Katabazi for always identifying with the young and helping them to become good citizens of the country.

According to Kizito, Col. Katabazi, being the first general secretary of UNSA, has always prioritized critical engagements to ideologically shape the young people.

The event was attended by several dignitaries from Buvuma District, including the District Education Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and the area District Police Commander, among others.
