Ministry of Health started a three day screening of non communicable diseases (NCDs) starting with Members of Parliament at the parliamentary building on Tuesday.
Non communicable diseases are medical conditions or diseases that are not caused by infectious agents for instance cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and stroke.
Dr. Joyce Kaducu the state minister of Primary Health Care said that there is a huge burden of non communicable diseases which are on a rise in Uganda.
“It’s important to know our status to reduce the spread of these diseases so let’s promote the screening and diagnosis offered by the ministry of health.” Kaducu said.
A total of 135 MPs were screened and diagnosed.
Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanya advised MPs to create time for their bodies and start engaging in physical activities to reduce the burden of non communicable diseases.
