Police have refuted reports making rounds on social media that there was an assassination attempt on the son of Internal Affairs Minister, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire.

The information was first posted by former NBS journalist Bukyana Julius on his Twitter account revealing that there was an assassination attempt on Gen. Otafiire’s son along Entebbe Expressway.

“Developing Story:Minister of Internal Affairs Gen Kahinda Otafiire’s son Ernest Otafiire survives assassination on Entebbe-Kampala expressway this morning. Details coming soon” Bukyana tweeted earlier today.

However, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says there was no any assassination attempt on the said person.

“We have read with concern disturbing social media reports that indicated that the Minister of Internal Affairs Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s son survived an assassination on the Entebbe -Kampala Express Highway. However, we have not received any report of attempted assassination and our officers who patrol the Highway have also not been notified of any incident. Therefore, the report is false and we appeal to members of the public/media/bloggers to always consult us before posting such false information. We are here to serve and protect you,” Onyango said.
