Territorial police of Kabale are investigating circumstances under which a fuel tank truck overturned, exploded and burnt.
The incident happened on Thursday at Kabaraga along Mbarara Kabale highway and it involved a fuel tank motor vehicle registration number SSD 775Q from Kampala to Kabale BAJ fuel station Rwakaraba.
While sloping down, the vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp corner, hit a side electric pole on the opposite side which sparked fire, overturned, exploded before burning down.
According to the Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate,police was notified, fire brigade, traffic and team rushed to the scene and fire was extinguished.
Maate added that the fuel tank had about 300,000 litres of fuel worth millions of shillings and both the driver and turn man survived with injuries and admitted at Kabale referral hospital.
Inquiries to ascertain the rightful cause of accident are underway.
