Kampala Central Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko has said that the new cabinet list which was announced on Tuesday night is a direct punishment to the Buganda region for not voting for President Yoweri Museveni in the 2021 general elections.

Appearing on NBS TV’s Barometer show on Tuesday, Nsereko said the ministerial posts were awarded to people whose regions supported President Museveni during elections.

“Can you reap where you did not sow? When you look at the selected cabinet we have now, President Museveni is from the west, his Vice President H.E Hon Jessica Alupo is from Teso because in the last elections Teso people voted for him. The Prime Minister Hon Nabanja is from Bunyoro, they also voted him more. He has brought in more women as he retires some. Then in Busoga, he brought Kadaga leaving Buganda behind and he has indirectly informed them that they mean nothing to him,” Nsereko said.

The legislator added that President Museveni has done the right thing to show Baganda his true colours.

“For so long Buganda region had thought that the post of Vice-Presidency is theirs but this time around President Museveni has shown them that they don’t matter. He has showed the Buganda region that next time they vote they should know who holds power and I thank him for that because he has exposed his true face that he gives those who give him and he has no friends.”

President Museveni on Tuesday night released his new cabinet list with comprising a good number of surprising faces such as Jessica Alupo (Maj. rtd) who was appointed Vice-President, Hon Robinah Nabbanja who was appointed Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament among others.
