Former Senior Presidential Press Secretary Joseph Tamale Mirundi has accused Next Media Chief Executive Officer Kin Kariisa of pocketing millions of shillings to broadcast engineered opinion polls during the 2021 presidential and parliament Speakership elections.
During an interview with TMO- a local Youtube media channel, the controversial political analyst claimed that Kariisa through his NBS TV was given USD50,000 (over Shs175m) to come up with what he referred to as ‘stupid’ opinion polls.
“Kariisa will be punished. He is desperate for money, what he is remaining with is to sale himself since he has nothing left to sell. His TV is declining. During elections he turned his TV into a tally center, he is finished. He published shameless opinion polls, Kariisa at your level?” Mirundi said.
“That is why I laugh at him. I regret why I worked with such an institution with a man who is money hungry. He used his TV to humiliate Kadaga……. And get discredited people like Muhanga to talk about Kadaga.”
Mirundi added that although Kariisa connived with some politicians to humiliate Kadaga, she has proved to them that she is more than a woman.
“You can not tell me that a person vying to be a Speaker with all respects and privileges needs to buy MPs, change the venue to intimidate them, that elections should be conducted in the State House and subject Kadaga to newspapers to humiliate her.”
Last year in June, NBS TV resolved to suspend Mirundi’s show, claiming that they were facing a Shs10bn court suit due to the “disparaging remarks” statements on his One on One with Tamale Mirundi show.
However, Mirundi revealed that nothing would stop him from taking on the government mafia. One of the reasons for his suspension from the talk show was that he was spreading propaganda and sabotaging messages against some government plans and officials he code-named Mafias.
