My service team and co driver have been my inspiration – Yasin Nasser says ahead of NRC season finale

The rally crew of Yassin Nasser and Ali Katumba in Subaru GVB tops the 2019 National Rally Championship (NRC) standings with just one event to wrap up this year’s calendar.

With 420 points, a win in the forth coming Mosac Rally will guarantee him a maiden championship at the expense of the 2015 champion Arthur Blick Jr who sits second with 385.

Nasser finished fourth behind Blick, Omar Mayanja and Dr. Ahmed Ashraf who were first, second and third respectively in the last round in Kabalega Rally in Hoima District.

Nasser admits that being in the lead is something that he never dreamed of at the beginning of the calendar. But thanks to his service team, family and co-driver, now it is almost possible.

“I treated every round as it came because I considered myself a minor with no competitor. However, finding myself in this situation, and eying for the championship is amazing. My competition is now Arthur Blick Jr since there are only two of us with a possibility of winning,” he told Watchdog Uganda.

This year’s final round – the Mosac Rally – is set for November 29 to December 1 in Kapeeka, Luwero District.

NRC Table standings

Yasin Nasser                   420

Blick                                385

Ronald Ssebuguzi          300

Hassan Alwi                   260

Christakis Fitidis            258
