FMU Rally: Rajiv takes number one spot in Kayunga

Rajiv Ruparelia, the new face in the motorsport world on Sunday emerged overall winner of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) Autocross championship Kayunga.

Rajiv and co-driver Ronnie Walia finished in the top spot after posting the fastest time of 05:18.5 ahead of the crew comprising of Ponsiano Rwakataka in second position, Ronald Ssebuguzi posted a time of 05:22.2.

After the successful race, he said he will now prepare for the Pearl Rally; which also doubles as the Africa Rally Championship event and will be the fourth round on the calendar scheduled for August 2 to 4.

In his debut rally last month, Rajiv finished second after clocking a record time of 10:44 minutes during the Enduro Autocross Championship 2019 that took place in Zion Estates, Ssisa.

Over fifteen crews participated in the championship.

The son to Uganda’s richest man Sudhir Ruparelia under his RR ‘Double Trouble’ cruises his Poland imported volkswagen Polo Proto.

In April this year, Rajiv joined Rallystar Academy in South Africa for a specialised rally training. He was trained by Africa’s number one trainer Leone Botha.
