The Uganda Secondary schools games have received a Fresh Diaries boost after they confirmed a huge sponsorship and partnership package with the milk processing firm.
For the next five years, Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) will receive at least Shs3bn from Fresh Diaries with the funds to be used in hosting the national secondary schools games starting with the 2019 edition.
Speaking at the launch of the national games held at fresh diary offices on 6th Street Industrial Area, USSSA finance officer Justus Mugisha said the package will help them smoothly run the games as they look at developing sports from the grassroots.
“We are grateful for the partnership, the money for logistics, kits, trophies, medals and certificates will be helpful to take the association forward as we work towards developing the games right from the grassroots,” Mugisha said.
Vincent Omoth, the head of Marketing at Fresh Diary, said as a company, they wanted to give back to the community as a way of appreciating the support they have shown them over the years. He also stressed that as a company, they want to help grow sports from the grassroots.
We are humbled by the role we are playing in growing the stature of Uganda’s secondary schools games. Fresh Dairy believes in developing a complete individual in terms of sports, academia and health. The five-year contract will also mount a robust advertising and publicity campaign for the games across Uganda to heighten participation and interest in the games nationally, said Omoth
The games, scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 11 at Mbale Secondary School, were officially flagged off yesterday with regional qualifiers expected to kickoff from April1 to 27, 2019 in the respective disciplines.
The games at the final include basketball, football U-20, rugby 15’s, hockey, table tennis, Badminton and lawn tennis
