Ashraf Nsubuga, a fourth year student of Makerere University has committed suicide inside his room at White House, an extension of Nsibirwa Hall at the University.
The 22 year old was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Medical Radiology on government sponsorship.
According to Kampala metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the incident occurred at about 12:15pm on Sunday.
Owoyesigire also revealed that police was investigating the motive behind the suicide and information on ground is that the deceased had been in debt.
Some students alleged that he was involved in online network marketing, where he lost close to Shs18 million to a ponzi scheme.
“May be the cause is failed business or debt collectors’ demands or pressure,” said Owoyesigire.
