Body of kidnapped NGO woman found

The body of Maria Nagirinya has been reportedly been found dumped by the roadside.

The 28-year-old Nagirinya was a staff member of Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) a Non-Government Organisation that works in the Water and Sanitation sub-sector, who was kidnapped on Wednesday night by unknown men.

According to relatives, Nagirinya was waiting outside the gate of her rented home in Lungujja-Busega Community zone when two men two men who trailed her pounced on her, threw her in the back of her car and drove off.

The car, a Toyota Spacio registration number UBA 570 V was later found abandoned in Kinawataka, Nakawa Division.
All her phones had been switched off and the kidnappers had not yet made any demands as of Friday morning.

The family had reported a kidnap case at Busega Kibumbubiro police station under reference 04/29/08/2019 with Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirming that investigations had opened.

“We have registered a case of kidnap and the case and it is being handled by the Katwe Police station. We have recorded a statement from relatives and friends and investigations are going on,” Onyango said.

Now yet to be confirmed news reaching our desk is her body has been discovered dumped in a valley at Nakitutuli, Mukono -Kayunga road after she was murdered.
